Greetings and welcome to the Book Barn’s new blog!  Today’s note represents our very first venture into the world of blogging.  As you’ve probably noticed, we’re a fairly low-tech, not to say Luddite, operation–but here we are (wonders never do cease).  Maureen White (a.k.a. Mo–SHAZAM!), Darcy Bruce and I, Glenn Shea, will be the editors and gatekeepers.  In the future, we hope to use the blog to carry news of events, interesting book arrivals, news of the crew–whatever might be of interest to our friends and clientele.  But, being a blog, it’s your chance to enter the conversation.  We’re hoping you’ll use it to ask questions, to air comments and suggestions, to tell of us of intersting things that have happened to you while at the Barn.  And of course to sing odes of civic praise to the wondrous thing that is the Book Barn (compliments gracefully accepted; flattery positively sought).  Our request in these matters:  keep it kind, keep it constructive, keep it clean (no blush-makers, please), and please, oh please (I speak as an old English major) keep it grammatical.  Okay, kiddies.  Let fly.

News of the Barn:  we have now received our beauteous new recyclable BAGS, which are available for $3.00 at either store.  They are, of course, barn red and have the Barn logo as well as the motto “Read. Recycle.”–doubly applicable in the case of the Barn.  Buy ‘em and carry forth the message of the Barn.  We thank you, and unknowing book addicts who discover the Barn in this fashion will keep you forever in their prayers.

Cash availability for buying books:   As most of you know, cash availability varies from month to month, based on our budget.  Through the summer months (until September) cash will be available for buying books Saturdays through Thursdays–in effect, every day EXCEPT Friday, when we will only be offering store credit.  As always, selling for store credit brings you twenty percent more than selling for cash.  No appointments necessary.
